------------ There are so many things wrong with this: namely the grass & Saracen Guy's arms. Please do not bother Saracen Guy's arms; couldn't get them right. (And his hips, too. Come on, Saracen Guy...) Also: this being the time of the Third Crusade, it didn't hit me until I was drawing: Did the Saracens wear this during that time? And would there have been grass?
With the knight, there is "artistic license": his mail mittens are off(which they shouldn't be, unless he did that himself), & he's not wearing his cowl (term?). (He lost his shield & his helm.)
Also don't like how the values don't seem to have gone as dark as would've liked in some places, especially with the grass. Though think this may have been scanned a little too darkly; Saracen Guy looks a lot more silhouetted than in real life.
3/7/07 Mechanical pencil, regular pencil (#2?), 8B, 9B. time: ? a while
3/8 edit: Fixed the knight's eyes (they were kind of going in opposite directions). Or... it ought to look fixed/somewhat better. If not, then... It doesn't.
(note: Third Crusade: 1189-1192. Couer de Lion & Saladin.)
Amazing!
I really like it, It looks really professional and serious and I wasnt confused at all! Good job! The lighting, the mark, the expressions, its great!
This is an amazing perspective! And the shading and the texture really add to the "striking" (pun intended!) nature of the piece.
That hand reaching for the sword is superb...

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
